Community of the King of Love

The Community of the King of Love
was formed in 1969 in Birmingham,
West Midlands
to work for reconciliation between people of
diverse culture and Christian traditions.
From Birmingham the founders moved to Bradford, West Yorkshire
where the first house was established and during those formative years
evolved a Rule of Life to which the members of the Community give obedience.
From Bradford the Community moved to New Mills in Derbyshire
and from there, in 1979, to Whaley Bridge
where the Foundation House was established.
Entrance into the Community follows the traditional monastic forms of aspirant,
novice and full member. It is open to men and women
and when a person becomes a full member three vows are taken for life.
These are:
Detachment Chastity Obedience.
